Why did you start playing? | Being born in England I've been a soccer nut my whole life. My grandmother use to send me English football related stuff like 'Shoot' magazine when I was a kid. In the early 70's my grandmother sent a Subbuteo set from England, I was living in Los Angeles at the time. It was the old heavy weights with the felt pitch. I would spread the pitch on the floor and mess around or play my younger brother who is five years younger then me. Later, my brother received the World Cup edition set and that's what really started the whole thing. My dad mounted the felt pitch on a board and attached the fence. We were in the big time! All the kids in the neighborhood who played soccer would come over and play. But the game faded away as we all moved on. Later on my brother moved to Maryland and the game came back to life as he found clubs on the east coast that played the game with new rules and high tech gear. He brought me out some new gear and introduced me to Wayne Smith on the west coast and history is being made as I write! Father of Kyle Tucker |
